The Shade was formed at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT in 2005. Boasting two drummers, a wheelbarrow of guitar effects, the occasional pedal steel, and a pair of Norsemen, their psych-rock is a strange melange of 70’s rock, 80’s drugs, and 90’s grunge. With two EPs under their belt and four coastal tours behind them, they are currently working on their first full-length album, tentatively titled Stiff Competition.
“On its most recent record, last year’s Science Will EP, the band creatively (and fruitfully) enriches Americana’s rootsy acoustic guitar instrumentation with the looser, atmospheric textures of psych and post-rock.”
